My name is Juan Francisco Perez, LMSW, and I am a queer Cuban and Puerto Rican therapist currently based in Brooklyn, New York. I grew up in Miami, Florida, moving to New York in 2016 for an undergraduate program at New York University. Graduating in December 2019, the pandemic that soon followed gave me an opportunity to reevaluate my priorities.
I realized that I couldn’t imagine working a job where I wasn’t helping every day working people. As a result, I decided to apply to graduate programs for social work, where I was privileged enough to be admitted to and attend Columbia University to earn my Master of Social Work.
Outside of helping my clients, I am passionate about reading, media literacy, theory, and video games. When not engaged in those things, you’ll find me hanging out with my cat Quema and my step-cat Clementine.
